text-indent: 1cm;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: times new roman,times;\">The intellectual life of a border town is often affected by various factors, which have a great impact on the conditions that could determine the cultural advance and the development of the region to a small or to a large extent. The scientific journal of Philologists\u2019 Association of Serres in its initial form, which was called \u201cAlbum of Philological Essays\u201d and was published in 1990, constituted the first step for the expression of philologists and other researchers, as they had the opportunity to demonstrate their work and to present it in public, promoting the development of the research and the propagation of the valid scientific knowledge. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 1cm;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Since 1992 the journal has become autonomous and it has been renewed concerning the form and the content, changing simultaneously its title to \u201cSiris\u201d, which signifies the name of the town of Serres during the antiquity. At the same time, an Editorial Committee (a Referees\u2019 Committee) was created, in order to evaluate the submitted papers according to specific scientific criteria. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 1cm;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Thus, at the next volumes, which have been published thereafter, the articles have become more qualitative, obtaining scientific validity and covering a wide range of miscellaneous subjects from different aspects as well.
