season<\/span>, 1946 – 1948\u00bb<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n This specific report is focused upon the study of various aspects of the Greek Civil War in the wider area of Serres and Central Macedonia by extension. Its aim is to record the presence and research of the Commission of Investigation Concerning Greek Frontier Incidents, of its department, the Subcommittee of Border Control (both of which were based in Thessaloniki), as well as of the United Nations Special Committee On the Balkans-[UNSCOB]. All of these committees-besides others-were developed in the specific area as well, based on the decisions of the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly. The investigation of UN observers focused on the study and analysis of the circumstances leading to the arousal of incidents on the Northern Greek borders parallel to the military operations of the Greek Army and the Democratic Greek Army-[DGA]. A primary source of this investigation was material taken from the historic records of the Greek Ministry Foreign Affairs as well as the study of the legal and illegal Press of this time period. The international dimension of the conflict, apart from its local dimension as well, is specifically shown through the reinforcement of Greek guerrillas from Yugoslavia and Bulgaria. Events such as the varied support to the DGA from the governments of Belgrade and Sofia, the invasion of its fighters from the Yugoslavian and Bulgarian territory and the provision of asylum and medical treatment to them are examined as aspects of the civil conflict through the presence of committee members to the operation area.
