Serres county has a rich history, starting from ancient times and through a long journey, which numbers the periods: Archaic, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, Revolution of 1821, Macedonian, Balkan Wars,\u00a0 first and second World War, and today it constitutes one of the cores of the economic, cultural, and tourist development of Greece. In the archaeological site of Amphipolis there is the “Leon of Amphipolis<\/strong>” symbol of pride and guard of the ancient city.
